Empires Beyond the Great Wall, The Heritage of Genghis Khan, Adam T. Kessler, Univ of Washington Press, 1997, This attractive volume, which celebrates the heritage of Genghis Khan, accompanied a tour of archaeological treasures from Inner Mongolia across North America between 1994 and 1995 which was organised by the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County. The volume publishes photographs of artefacts and works of art which date from the Palaolithic and the first dynasties of the 3rd and 2nd millenna BC to the Qing Dynasty of the post-medieval era and includes objects representative of the 20th century. The photographs are accompanied by a useful discussion which places the objects within their cultural and historic contexts.
