This project of the Royal Society was to record rapid changes in landscape, climate & botany in that lush area, & to collect rare & unusual plants. Ward's course was through Yunnan, Kinkiangkai, Yungning, Likiang, Atuntze, Nonghkai, down to Myitkyina.
