THE INDIAN ALPS AND HOW WE CROSSED THEM BY A LADY PIONEER, Nina Mazuchelli 1st edn., Logman's Green, London, 1876, expertly recased with original spine, original red cloth with gilt decoration, gilt titles, large fold-out map of Eastern Nepal, beautiful colour plates, B&W sketches throughout, Married to an English army chaplain, Nina Mazuchelli set out from her home in Darjeeling accompanied by the local District Officer to explore the Eastern glaciers of the Himalayas. Although provisioned with every conceivable comfort from bedsteads to a dinner service, they were not prepared for the rigorous conditions and were forced to abandon their expedition.
