THE PAMIRS, Earl of Dunmore, John Murray, 2nd edn., ( identical to first) 1893, 2 vols, original grey cloth with silver Buddha and titles, sticker removed from both vols, edges worn but binding firm, original endpapers, B&W plates throughout, fold-out colour map in rear Vol II plus fold-out Official Chinese map of Pamirs, Starting from from Rawalpindi in April 1892, Dunmore reached Kashgar in Chinese Turkestan in December 1892, and continued west through Ferghana and Transcaspia, reaching Samarkand in January 1893. He had ridden and walked 2500 miles, traversing forty-one mountain passes and sixty-nine rivers - scarce Ex libris John Nankervis $400
